Belated But Worth It

Lady Gaga performed at the Canadian Much Music Awards a few weeks ago and exploded, literally. Let's just say that if I did not love her as much as I do already, I would have to respect her willingness to put her lovely breasts in the line of fire (again, literally) for the sake of art. So now, call me devoted. Take a look and listen:

The Return of Movie Season

The months between February and May are usually painful for me, because this is the time when movies are not yet blockbusters and have just passed being eligible for the Oscars, so they are not "good" either. When checking over my movie tickets between those months I realized the only movie I saw was "Fast and Furious" (always fabulous), but that was shockingly it. Now that it's May and movie executives feel safe in releasing their big-budget hopefuls, I have seen 5 movies in the span of a month and feel confident in re-establishing my blogging prowess.

Now that I am "back" I will first have a blockbuster roundup of the ones I have seen (Wolverine, Star Trek & Terminator: Salvation), complete my obsession with Powder Blue (it has been fully released on DVD) and return to many of my other segments, including revealing my Crush of the Month, an actor who is About to Burst and give you some tips on DVDs to watch. So I say to you all now welcome back and happy viewing!

Spinal Tap News!

A few blog posts ago I mentioned that the trio Spinal Tap (Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer) from the legendary movie "This is Spinal Tap" would be touring this spring "Unwigged and Unplugged." Today, I not only found this clip of the trio on Leno, but I looked on Ticketmaster and found the schedule of when they are playing. Enjoy!

Urgent Powder Blue News

Powder Blue is the new surefire hit coming out this year starring Ray Liotta, Forrest Whitaker and Jessica Biel, the latter playing a "down-on-her-luck uneducated single mom stripping to make payments to save her terminally ill son." Now, if this doesn't scream "sleeper summer blockbuster" to you than maybe you can't read.

Here is the video showing her confessional to Access Hollywood about "how much respect" she has for the strippers now that she has trained for this film, and this video includes footage of her "getting into character" aka grinding on the floor and making artsy fartsy movements whilst standing on fabrics. I love seeing Jessica talk about her character so earnestly before this movie is released, knowing that unless a miracle flies out of the sky it will not do well.

I love this movie so much already because even though I gave up watching movie trailers this year as a belated New Year's resolution (if you want reasons email me) this hasn't stopped me from watching this trailer between 10 and 20 times for no particular reason other than sadism. According to the article linked to above, Jessica has a contract with the producers of the movie where they can't show her nipples (she's one of those strippers. That only exist in movies.), but, as you can see clearly in the trailer, you can see approximately 95% of her vagina when she does a common "open legs" stripper move. I think that this is designed to show she's willing to do anything to save her son, except for showing her nipples. If I were a famous movie actress and had already showed my nipples several years ago I probably would have no problem showing my tots on screen, since everyone has nipples (some more than two!) but I would perhaps have an issue (just one) of the showing of my chotchky.

In case you haven't seen the trailer, here it is for your viewing pleasure:

So Much to be Thankful For:

Example No. 1: This video from last week's 30 Rock, where LIz Lemon's all-to-brief acting career is revealed in this perfect commercial for 1-900-OK FACE. 30 Rock is almost always funny, and this clip puts it over the top as one of the best things ever. Please enjoy.

Just Because

A blast from the past: Jennifer Garner and Michael Vartan (working the sh*t out of a turtleneck) from Alias publicity shots. Oh, heaven.

You're Welcome

Here's some booty-shaking greatness to get you ready for the weekend (you probably shouldn't be eating, or looking at yourself naked, or trying to pleasure yourself while watching this f.y.e.). Man, if I had dance moves this hot Colin Farrell would be begging me for it. But unfortunately, he's on his knees at this lucky lady's house. You go girl! (actually lady).

Hold on to your cucumbers...

Spinal Tap are reuniting! The three men (Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer) are going to embark on a 30-city "Unwigged and Unplugged" tour starting April 17th. They say they wanted to tone down their act (and their wigs) because, to paraphrase Danny Glover "[they're] getting too old for this sh*t." I will post the full 30-city listing once I find it, but only after I buy my ticket. Snooze, you lose.

The Real Housewives Are About to Make All of My Dreams Come True

Bravo created the Real Housewives of Orange County, which was so successful it spun off into RH of New York City and Atlanta. The shows revolve around a fairly simple concept- watch these wealthy women (and sometimes their husbands) be completely wealthy, ridiculous, and have over-the-top drama. This format has worked so well for Bravo that they have become the de facto wealth network, exploring "Millionaire Matchmaking," first class clients (First Class All The Way), renovating houses for profit (Flipping Out) and upscale hairdressing (Blow Out) among many others.

Naysayers may say that two spin-offs of the original Housewives show is more than enough, but I kindly suggest they take a big deep breath before they read the next sentence. Bravo is now developing the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Jersey!! Now, I ask you, who would not want to watch New Jersey housewives go about their day, regardless of whether they are rich or not. I've literally spent minutes since hearing this imagining what the show will be like- will a Mafia wife complete with a fountain in front of her beyond garish house be featured? More Hamptons loving a la New York City? Houses by the Shore? Whichever way Bravo decides to go, you bet your big hair, French manicure and Juicy tracksuit I'll be watching.
